  It’s hard to explain what it is about the Blue Mountains that sticks with you.

  that this park is one of the most breathtaking places in all of Australia.
  
  
  I’ve been guiding travellers through this region — from
  Echo Point and the Three Sisters to underground cave systems to open valleys — for years, and I can honestly say, the Blue Mountains are more than a
  day trip. They’re the perfect escape from urban chaos,
  a natural cathedral of sandstone cliffs, waterfalls and gum-scented air.
  
  
  Only an hour and a half west of Sydney via the Great Western Highway, the region is part of the UNESCO-listed Greater
  Blue Mountains. It’s a vast World Heritage sanctuary, extending right out to Wollemi National Park.
  It’s a mix of ancient rock formations, lush forests and deep ravines,
  habitat for more than 400 native animal species, featuring lyrebirds, wallabies, and even the rare dingo.
